Location of Sighting: Eugene, Oregon
Date of Sighting: December 13, 2018
Time of Sighting: 4:50 to 7 AM PST
Description: I live about 5 miles south of the airport in Eugene, Oregon. I woke up and noticed a bright white light and thought it could be an airplane getting ready to land. However, it appeared to be stationary for about an hour (about 4:50 to 6:00 AM). It is now 6:56 AM and has moved about 2 inches from my vantage point. I can watch airplanes come and go all the time, but this object doesn’t seem to be moving any direction other than up and very slowly at that.
It was very low on the horizon and as daylight approaches, it slowly but surely is ascending. I have seen all kinds of lights, planes, satellites, etc. in the sky but nothing quite like this. I forgot to mention that the sky is very clear. We were expecting rain and heavy rainfall for a few days, but it has been very sunny with very little rain. It’s now after 7 AM and this light is continuously moving upward at a snail’s pace.
Note: The witness was likely seeing the planet Venus.
