Location of Sighting: Washington, D.C.
Date of Sighting: October 17, 2018
Time of Sighting: 6:33 PM EDT
Description: I was walking west across 18th street on the corner of Columbia. I was admiring a white/orange light in the sky that I thought may have been Mars. I thought that it was Mars because of the size and color, though I know the position and size wasn’t quite right. It looked more like Mars did mid summer of 2018, large and bright. As I watched it, it faded and vanished in place. I continued to watch the sky for any sign of movement, plane, satellite or otherwise. I did not see anything else. I looked at the time and it was 6:33 PM. There were planes in the sky at lower positions that were still very much lit up by the sun. This is not the first time I have seen something like this and it is not the first time I have seen strange objects in the skies over DC.Note to Commenters: If you are reporting a sighting, be sure to include the location (city, state, country), date and time of your sighting.
